The list of current and former airline that offered airfare to Hawaii is quite impressive. It is a long and storied list of famous and not-so-famous airline companies.
The current domestic airlines that fly to Hawaii on a regularly scheduled basis are: American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways. Allegiant Air will be joining this list of current providers of Hawaii airfare, beginning in the late 2011 to early 2012 timeframe. Current international carriers that offer airfare on a direct route basis include: Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Philippine Airlines, QANTAS, China Air, Westjet, Jetstar, New Zealand Air, Korean Airlines and Air Canada. Current providers of interisland Hawaii airfare are: Hawaiian Airlines, Go! Mokulele, Island Air and Pacific Wings.
The listing of airlines that no longer provide airfare to Hawaii either because they went out of business or were merged into another airline is also quite impressive. Domestic US carriers in this group include: Braniff, Pan American World Airways, Continental Airlines, Trans World Airways, Canadian Airlines, Canadian Pacific Air, Northwest Airlines, America West, ATA and Aloha Airlines. Interisland carriers in this group include: Mid Pacific, Mahalo Air, Discovery Air, Mokulele and also Aloha Airlines.
There are rumors that Southwest Airlines will be joining this long list of airlines that fly to Hawaii. These rumors are being fueled by speculation that Southwest had recently announced its purchase of long-haul Boeing 737s. These Boeing 737 aircrafts will have the necessary range to reach Hawaii from the west coast United States.
